Custom sculpted bronze Siberian Tiger mascot
monument statue.

Commissioned in 1978 by the
graduating class alumni
of 1938 to honor Ogden high school. The alumni chose to immortalize the
schools tiger mascot in bronze. Dee Jay Bawden spent several days at the
Hogle Zoo
in Salt Lake City doing studies of tigers.

This life sized Siberian tiger began
with three different
preliminary models just 6” tall. After the alumni’s selection
and approval Dee Jay began the large life sized clay
model replication. The model took three months to
complete and the mold and bronze casting took
another three months to complete.

The Alumni’s generous gift of this wonderful bronze tiger statue was
installed toward the end of 1979. It is interesting to note that this bronze tiger has appeared in three different movies on the big
screen. Drive Me Crazy and Don’t Look Under The Bed
were two of the Disney productions filmed at Ogden High
School in Utah during 1980’s. Another movie filmed at Ogden high
school was 3:00 High a popular movie in the late 1980’s.
